The Sky's the Limit!
Solent Sky Musem approached us at the end of last year to help to save the “Calshot Spit” Lighthouse Boat and we were delighted to lend our support for this amazing cause. This fabulous floating lighthouse guarded the waters of Southampton for many years, and guided the great flying boats and cruise liners into the city. She was originally manufactured by Vosper Thornycroft in 1911 and is now undergoing a programme of restoration by Solent Sky volunteers.
We arranged removal of the soil, provided an 8-tonne mini digger, a roller, the heras fencing, the limestone for the base and the ground workers—had we not then there was a chance the boat was going to be scrapped. We pulled together with other local companies and helped safeguard some heritage from Southampton’s past and ensured that this beautiful boat carries on being a part of Southampton's history. Very excitingly, she is going to be opened as a café in 2020 so we are now planning a staff outing to see her in all her glory!
