Other imortant considerations when choosing to hire a skip

WHAT CAN’T I PUT IN MY SKIP?

While skips are incredibly versatile, there are specific items that cannot be placed in a general waste skip due to safety and environmental regulations. However, Ace Liftaway can collect these items at a chargeable rate. The following items are prohibited:

Fridges and Freezers
Batteries
Pressurised Cylinders
Oils and Chemicals
Tyres
Tree Roots
Mattresses
TVs and Monitors
Waste Upholstered Domestic Seating (WUDs)

WASTE UPHOLSTERED DOMESTIC SEATING (WUDs)

Waste Upholstered Domestic Seating (WUDs) includes any household or business seating items that are being disposed of. Examples of WUDs that may contain Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and therefore cannot be placed in general skips without an additional cost, include:

Sofas
Sofa beds
Armchairs
Kitchen and dining room chairs
Stools and footstools
Home office chairs
Futons
Bean bags, floor and sofa cushions
This includes any part made of or containing leather, synthetic leather, other fabric, or foam. Due to the presence of POPs, the manufacture, sale, and use of these products are now banned.

For the disposal of new plasterboard and asbestos, separate skips must be used. Please contact us for a quotation if you need to dispose of any of these items.

PLASTERBOARD DISPOSAL

For projects involving plasterboard, it’s essential to order a dedicated skip or tonne bag specifically for this material. Plasterboard must be disposed of separately to comply with waste management regulations.
